Determining the Orbit of an Asteroid
Most often, newly discovered asteroids turn out to not be a threat to hit Earth. But Earth’s geologic record reveals 128 impact craters that are 6 km in diameter or larger (and many more smaller ones), evidence that motivates us to continue to be on the lookout for possible impactors.
